Sledding into Math (Winter Centers) -- FREEBIE too!
This year I have tried something different when teaching math. I have been using Guided Math rotation instead of Whole Group teaching style. I decided to create Winter Centers. There are 5 centers which include double-digit subtractions, place value, money, word problems and true/false equations. I'm hoping your students will enjoy these centers!! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me at: tstrong16@gmail.com. Just click the link below & they are 20% off until January 1st!!

Story Elements Flap Book (FREEBIE)
My students love doing activities in groups and I feel their little brains work more efficiently because they have the opportunity to teach each other. My reading group seems to lose information and give you that ole so popular blank stare when you review material from the beginning of the year. We have been working on compare and contrast these past few weeks, but my students needed practice with Character, Setting, Problem and Solution. I decided to create a Flap Book. I plan on having them complete it in their assigned groups. It's posted in my TPT store for FREE! Hope you enjoy it!

Pumpkin Art!
Our kids don't get a lot of art time because we don't have specials except for once a week and us teachers do art and gym. But this week our 3rd graders were taking the Fall OAA so we decided to keep our homerooms instead of switching into our math groups! My students loved getting the extra time to actually finish their art project. After we were done we wrote stories to describe our pumpkins!! If you are looking for a simple but time consuming art project try this one!! The students get to draw and color three pumpkins and then design faces for them! Here's a picture of the one I created...

Pouring out the Main Idea and Details....
Last week I introduced Main Idea and Details to my students and it did not go as I expected. They are having a really hard time understanding the concept. I pulled out the Main Idea and Detail cut and paste activity I created on TPT (it is listed on a previous post) and used it as a supplement but I still felt like I wasn't reaching my students so I decided to create my own unit on Main Idea and Detail. I am currently working on it so it is a work in progress. But be looking for it in the next couple of weeks! If you have any suggestions on what to include please post in the comments. I'd love some suggestions!!

It's finally FALL!
Fall is my FAVORITE season! The crisp cool evenings and the leaves changing; along with drinking hot apple cider and putting pumpkin spice all throughout the house! Anyways...
I have decided to create a spelling choice board for the month of October. My students do well with spelling throughout the week but it seems like when they go to write the words after that specific week they can't. I decided to let them choose what kind of activities to study at home giving them a little bit of choice in their learning. Hope you enjoy this FREEBIE! Let me know how it works in your classroom!

Reading Centers are in Full Swing!
Today I began utilizing reading centers throughout my reading class. My co-workers and I have bought all of the units from Stuckey in Second that coordinate with our Treasures reading series. Her units are awesome and I encourage you to go check out her blog at:
She includes word sorts, different centers that go along with each weekly skill and writing prompts for the Main Selection along with the leveled books for each story! My students get so excited when I say we are going to be working in centers today!

F is for Fall!
My favorite season is Fall. I love watching the leaves change, drinking Pumpkin Spice coffee and pulling out the comfy sweaters. One of the other things I love is books! I was in Cincinnati this weekend for a wedding and stopped at a target and of course had to buy books for my classroom (you can never have enough in my eyes!)
One of the books I bought was Pippa the Pumpkin Fairy. These books are adorable especially for girls! There are 3 others including Camilla the Cupcake Fairy, Annie the Apple Pie Fairy, and Lola the Lollipop fairy! My girls love to read these because of the bright illustrations, so the Pippa the Pumpkin Fairy will go perfect with my Pumpkin activities! On the other hand, the boys in my classroom love Splat the Cat so I had to buy that book! I'm so glad they continue to create new books to add to each of these series!

You Have to Start Somewhere!
Hello Bloggers!
I'm Tiffany Strong and this is my second year teaching Second Grade. I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was 8 years old. I attended Wright State University and obtained my bachelors in Early Childhood Education.
I have wanted to start a blog for a LONG time now so I figured I might as well try it. I love doing interactive activities in my classroom such as centers, interactive notebooks, and workshop activities. I hope to share many activities from my own classroom as I have gotten many ideas from fellow teacher's blog.
I have a Teachers Pay Teachers website as well and you can access it here:
